As a young adult, you know that there is so much life to live and wisdom that will continue to grow within, but sometimes there’s also this entitlement that comes with being the one within this generation that is making an impact.
We can easily push aside the words of our elders as we feel we know what’s best because we have just been taught and have developed things within our own life that we may find to be the answer of previous generations problems.
And although this isn’t necessarily false or wrong to continue to progress in knowledge or creating, it can be dangerous in a lot of ways because God works in ways beyond our understanding.
We are quick to jump to conclusions and read the Bible on a surface level to fix our pain or ailments and have it align with what we want it to say.
And maybe those of previous generations within our family were not in line with God’s words and so no I am not saying that we have to listen to the guidance of false teaching or lack of wisdom.
But I am afraid that within a heart of a young twenty year old to mid thirties and even those who are younger are in a mindset that perhaps God is speaking to us in a new way than He has in the past. And although God can speak however He wants or whenever/wherever, His word still stands true.
Breaking the Bible down and dissecting it to fit our lives isn’t going to actually bring us to places we think it ought to.
It’s like we all have this puzzle piece we want to fit in this one spot but it’s actually not the piece that goes, but we are willing to fold it, cut it, and shove it to make the piece fit.
Truth is truth, you cannot change it. God’s word is truth. If we align our lives to God, we know the truth, and nothing can change that.
I’m not writing this because I think there needs to be a stern talking to this generation, but more of a gentle reminder that we are not the one’s to create the truth, we are the ones that are meant to absorb, read, shape our lives to be what fits His word. And honestly how powerful would this generation be if we actually read our Bibles for what it is rather than what we want it to be.
Thank you for reading,
Tay Ruth
Wow, the title of your article had me scared for a second, LOL. But after reading what your really meant, what a powerful message for your generation…and any generation. Thank you for standing for the only truth – God’s message, the Word of God. You are a light shining in darkness.
Kathryn, Haha! That is funny. The point to the title was to be extreme on what many are beginning to basically say. Twisting the Bible and making it something that they are wanting it to be and saying their version is “true.” But Truth is truth and it cannot be changed, even if we don’t agree with it. 💛 Thank you for reading and your encouragement. Sorry if I made you a bit nervous there, but I’m glad you read it. 😊
Wow! This is exactly what so many people NEED to hear. Wonderfully said!
God sure is using you in so many ways Taylor—keep glorifying God through your blog!🧡
Amazing blog once again, Tay! Major truth for your generation, my generation, those that have come before and will come after. His truth is the same- yesterday, today and tomorrow! Thank you for the wonderful reminder! ❤️
Compelling, solid, and insightful. The phrase “my own truth” has become commonplace among all age groups, but particularly, to your point, among the millennial generation. Just in the past 5 years, I have watched multitudes flee their faith and life in Christ and embrace “their own truth”; it’s truly heartbreaking. Perhaps God is calling you to be a catalyst to bring light and truth to this generation; your voice is clear and necessary. I will be praying that God’s purpose for you will come to fruition. Please say hello to your Mom and Dad for me.
